All Parents / Carers and Guests of Tendulkar Middlesex Global Academy (TMGA) will:
- Respect the rights, dignity and worth of every person within the context of cricket.
- Treat everyone equally and not discriminate on the grounds of age, gender, disability, race, ethnic origin nationality, colour, parental or marital status, religious belief, class or social background, sexual preference or political belief.
- Not condone, or allow to go unchallenged, any form of discrimination if witnessed.
- Display high standards of behaviour at all times.
- Promote the positive aspects of cricket, e.g. Spirt of Cricket & fair play, and being a good global citizen.
- Encourage all participants to learn the rules, play within them and respect the decisions of match officials, coaches, staff, and of ambassadors of TMGA.
- Actively discourage unfair play, rule violations and arguing with match officials, coaches, staff, and of ambassadors of TMGA.
- Recognise good performance; not just match results. Place a higher value on development over performance outcomes and younger ages.
- Place the wellbeing and safety of young people above their performance.
- Encourage player development through implicit learning, embracing the role that failure can play in a player’s self-awareness, skill acquisition and decision making.
- Respect young people’s opinions when making decisions about their participation in cricket.
- Sit away from the players when requested by coaching staff during matches and TMGA training activities to support players social and personal development.
- Not to smoke in the vicinity of players, drink excessive alcohol or use banned substances whilst supporting.
- Not provide young people with alcohol, nicotine or banned substances when they are engaged in TMGA activities.
- Follow best practice guidelines and national governing body advice.
Report any concerns in relation to a young person’s wellbeing or welfare to the TMGA coaches, officials or safeguarding leads.
TMGA appreciate that some disclosures may first happen with a player’s direct coach. All coaches are aware of the handling and escalation process.
CODE OF CONDUCT FOR YOUNG PEOPLE, AND TENDULKAR MIDDLESEX GLOBAL ACADEMY (TMGA) PARTICIPANTS
TMGA is committed to the development of our elite young cricketers and the realisation of their aspirations.
As society, attitudes and patterns of behaviour are changing, TMGA has made the decision to issue a Code of Conduct to all TMGA activity participants and they thereby agree to fully abide by its contents.
Players are representing TMGA during structured and unstructured training with TMGA programmes, as well as when in training or match play for another external organisation when inside membership period. When playing for a team to win is the fundamental aim of the game; but not to win at all cost, fair play and respect for others in the game is fundamentally important. When in training and developmental activities; playing with respect the coach(s), your peers, the facilities and learning environment. It is vital to maximise your own learning as well as supporting and accelerating your peer’s development too.
The principles that underpin this Code of Conduct are:
- The players’ welfare is paramount.
- All players, whatever their age, culture, disability, gender, language, racial origin, religious belief or sexual identity have the right to protection from abuse.
- All players have the right to be safe and treated with dignity and respect.
- Attitude and personal decisions form the foundations of our behaviour and actions.
Any breach of this Code may lead to the player being warned as to their future conduct or in more serious cases being suspended or barred from participation in TMGA activities. During festivals, programmes or tours players may be sent home for serious breaches of discipline.
A Disciplinary Procedure is available upon request.
TMGA participants agree to:
- Make every effort to develop their own technical, tactical, physical and mental abilities with the aim of reaching their full potential.
- Give maximum effort and strive for the best possible performance during games and practice.
- Set a positive example for others, particularly other players.
- Play cricket in a competitive manner whilst maintaining the highest standards of sportsmanship.
- When invited or selected to attend TMGA events, arrive punctually, behave with self-discipline and give notice and reasons for any absence.
- Listen to and take on board guidance given by the TMGA coaching team and other TMGA or external officials.
- Practice the techniques and skills taught by the TMGA coaching team and attempt to apply them within matches or competitive situations.
- Abide by the spirit, as well as the letter, of the laws of cricket (copies of the “Spirit of Cricket” are available from your TMGA Head Coach alternatively via https://www.lords.org/mcc/laws/spirit-of-cricket).
- Accept the umpire’s or officiating personnel’s decision at all times and do not show any dissent – officials will be advised prior to matches of the high standard expected from a TMGArepresentatives.
- Behave and dress in an appropriate manner (both on and off the field) when participating in TMGA activities. Participants are requested to wear their TMGA clothing during all TMGA activities.
- Only use mobile phones during breaks in play or when agreed by the team manager, unless in an emergency.
- Not to take alcohol or tobacco, or any other stimulant or harmful substance whilst participating in Middlesex fixtures or on tour.
- Accept victory and defeat with dignity and grace.
- Not use foul and abusive language on or off the field.
- Treat all players, both team mates and opposition, as you would like to be treated.
- Avoid all forms of gamesmanship including sledging.
- Not make reference to any TMGA activity, official, player or parent on the World Wide Web or social medial platforms and ensure strict confidentiality is adhered to.
- Thank umpires, venue officials and opponents at the end of matches.
- Be a good global citizen. (Further information regarding characteristics of global citizen can be found in; TMGA Academy Player and Parent Handbook or can be obtained from TMGA D Y Patil Head Coach and TMGA lead coaching team.)
- All participants cannot direct message coaches, managers, ambassadors & volunteers via email, text or social media platforms. Communication to TMGA staff should only occur through TMGA officials and event organisers direct from parents or at workshops and communication events. Additional communication with TMGA coaching staff will occur through the TMGA Global Passport (or similar online video analysis platform). Each activity will have designated administrators made obvious through event or Academy registration. Messages should be from your parents/carers or with your parents/carers copied in. Coaches, mangers, ambassadors and volunteers are unable to respond to direct messages or link via social network platforms, online media or gaming – unless through the Global Passport (or similar platform) where visibility is remained open with parents/carers. Communication with TMGA Global Head Coach or a TMGA Academy Head Coach, should only be made in essential safeguarding communication or to make complaints, or to submit an incident report.
TMGA participants are to be proud of the organisations and people they are representing as well as the traditions of the game and the place that they hold in the game. All TMGA participants are expected to uphold these standards.
